Anti-militant raid on 2nd day at Jhenaidah ‘militant den’

Jhenaidah: The anti-militant raid is underway for the second day at two suspected militant dens at Chuadanga village under Sadar upazila in the district on Wednesday morning.

Earlier on Tuesday morning Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted raid at two houses owned by Selim and Pranto and recovered four powerful bombs from Pranto’s house.

RAB-6 commander Khondokar Rafiqul Islam informed this at a press release sent around 2:00 pm Tuesday.

The release read that another five spots including two houses had been identified and the raid was underway.

The raid was suspended at dusk.

Earlier on Monday night Selim, son of Aftab Uddin and Pranto, son of Motiur Rahman, were detained from Chuadanga village and RAB claimed that they were members of New JMB.

RAB bomb disposal unit from Khulna started the raid at the suspected militant dens around 11:15 am Tuesday.

Mentionable, RAB-6 cordoned off two houses of Selim and Pranto as suspected militant dens from 7:00 am Tuesday.

Jhenaidah RAB company commander Major Monir Ahmed said there might be huge amount of bombs and explosives in those houses.
