Player payments in domestic leagues to be addressed

Online Report

There were suggestions that some of the players did not receive payments in the recently concluded Dhaka Premier League (DPL) and Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) informed that they will look to notify the clubs and also the cricket board about the issue and make sure the matter is resolved properly.

The CCDM chairman Kazi Inam spoke to reporters after a first division meeting was held today.

“We will make sure the matter is addressed properly and we will notify the board regarding this matter,” Inam said.

Players from one particular club in the Premier League did not get their full payments yet and Inam suggested that some of the payments were already made in advance.

“We will notify the board and the clubs. What we had said earlier was that majority of the clubs had made 25% of the payments in advance before the league started. Most of the clubs had made complete payments to their players within a week of conclusion of the Premier League. The board will give directives over what to do next,” he added.

He also informed that only one or two clubs had issues making full payments and the rest have already made full payments.

He also suggested that all the leagues will end within the first week of Ramadan and informed that the plan is to hand over the trophies for the first division and third division at the ground following the end of the tournament. The second division trophy for both the champions and the runners-up were handed over today.

The Relegation League for the first division will start from tomorrow, May 9 while the Super League will begin from May 10.
