RAB arrested suspected Ansar al-Islam members – Mir Ibrahim, 25, and Hemayet Uddin, 22 – from Dhaka’s Saidabad area on Tuesday, who informed RAB of another suspect.
Based on the information, RAB arrested suspected Hizb-ut-Tahrir member – Rashed Mahmud alias Mithud, 26 – in a separate drive, from Kamalbagh in Dhaka’s Showari Ghat area, on Thursday night.
The elite anti-crime unit recovered extremist books, video clips, and mobile phones from the Ansar al-Islam members’ hideout, while Hizb-ut-Tahrir member Rashed was apprehended with a mobile phone, two jihadi books and 110 leaflets.
RAB confirmed the matter in a press release on Wesnesday, signed by RAB 10 Co-Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Md Kaiumuzzaman Khan.
