Tarique, Fakhrul among 9 face arrest warrant

A court in Dhaka on Monday issued a warrant for the arrest of nine BNP leaders and activists, including its acting chairman Tarique Rahman and secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a case filed for issuing death threat to Bangladesh Jononetri Parishad President AB Siddique.
Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabroto Shikdar passed the order after hearing the statement of the complainant.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Jononetri Parishad President AB Siddique filed the case with the court accusing nine BNP men of issuing death threat to him.

The other accused are BNP chairperson’s adviser Amanullah Aman, BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Hafizur Rahman Rana and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Emdadul Haque Bhuiyan.

According to the case statement, Rana sent a letter to the plaintiff on July 23 last by post threatening to kill him.

Later, he lodged a general diary with Hatirjheel Police Station seeking security.
