Vegan lemon pepper tempeh: Yummy

This tempeh is a great high protein meal and tastes delicious!


  • 250g tempeh
  • Marinade

  • 1 cup water
  • Juice from two lemons
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbs sesame oil
  • Coating

  • 4 tbs dijon mustard
  • 1/3 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp lemon pepper
  • Oil for frying


  • In a medium sized baking tray mix water, lemon juice, ginger, salt, soy sauce and oil

  • Cut tempeh into long strips about 2-3cm thick

  • Place tempeh in baking tray and marinade for at least two hours

  • In a mixing bowl mix together nutritional yeast and lemon pepper

  • Pour marinade and tempeh pieces into a fry pan and bring to a simmer for 10 mins

  • Remove tempeh and brush well with mustard

  • Dip tempeh into mixing bowl and with yeast and pepper

  • Heat a few tbsp of oil in a fry pan and fry each side of tempeh until golden brown and crispy. Serve!
